Admissions
Introduction
The EMM-ChIR is a complete and flexible program preparing professionals qualified to deal with all aspects of chemical safety and chemical sustainability.
The University partners of the ChIR consortium are:
- Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna (IT)
- University of Barcelona (ES)
- The University of Algarve in Faro (PT)
The multicultural environment fosters innovation while exploring the most recent trends in chemical circular economy and sustainability To ensure a toxic-free environment, modern society demands chemical strategies for sustainability. International chemical regulations such as the European REACH are an essential step in the direction of a green, safe and sustainable chemistry, promoting innovation to design safer chemicals and search for innovative chemical applications. Knowledge of regulations and sensitivity towards safety and preservation issues are the prerequisite that motivates chemists to make sustainability the center of their interest. The graduate will be charged to respond to these societal needs through the design of innovative chemicals and innovative technologies for their production. The knowledge of the design of alternative chemical substances, the activity-structure relationships, the green synthetic methods, catalysis techniques, the use of alternative solvents, of the issues of recycling and environmental impacts will be the scientific basis to formulate research and innovation proposals. Knowledge of basic economic issues will provide graduates with the required reference framework.
The master's duration is 2 years: 1 year of taught modules in one of the Universities of the consortium and 1 year of internship, research project, and thesis. Teaching takes place in one of the Universities of the consortium by Lecturers from all the partner institutions. The Host University rotates every year. In the 2nd year, each student moves to a second country of the consortium to complete the internship, research project, and thesis. Part of the research project can be done in collaboration with one of the associated partner institutions of the Consortium either in Europe, Brazil, China, Japan, India, Argentina, or Uruguay. The final Qualification obtained is a Join Master Degree in Chemical Innovation and Regulation awarded by the three Universities of the ChIR Consortium.
