Methodology
The Master's methodology follows the teaching techniques of the School of Journalism at Columbia University, with practice as the basis of training.
100% practical work
The idea is to learn Journalism by doing it. Taking the city of Barcelona as a laboratory, each student will learn knowledge by planning, discussing, writing, producing, editing, and analyzing the results of their work.
Paragraph-by-paragraph correction
The Master has few theoretical classes. Most of the sessions are to go even deeper into the corrections made by teachers, based on their experience as information professionals.
Simulation exercises
In addition to the workshops and seminars, students participate in real press conferences exclusive to the Master in which they have to apply what they have learned in class. The mayor of Barcelona and the president of the Parliament of Catalonia are some of the political leaders to whom the students have had to ask current questions.
Newsroom
The Master also seeks for students to practice teamwork. For this reason, they have to learn to collectively make a radio program, a television news program, or an online magazine.
Final Work
The course culminates with the Final Project, an in-depth report on the topic chosen by the students and in the format they want (press, multimedia, radio, or television). As in the rest of the practices, students will have the supervision of a tutor.
Internships in media
To complete the journalistic information, facilitate professional contact, and open future job options, students will carry out three months of internships in a media outlet.
