THE GRAPE It was founded in 1971 and passed in recent years by a marked process of academic growth and obtained results highlights in recent evaluations of the Ministry of Education (MEC). In 2012, the institution has reached the track 4 of the MEC General Index of Courses (1-5), the highest reached by a private university in the country. Today, it occupies the seventh place in the ranking of the best private universities in the country, being the second best particular the state of Rio de Janeiro.
It offers 40 undergraduate and technological graduation, five master's degrees and more than 70 sensu post-graduation courses. In 2012, authorization was granted for the creation of the first doctoral university in the field of psychoanalysis, Health and Society, which had its first class in 2013.
With four campuses, three of them in the city of Rio de Janeiro - Tijuca, bar and center - and the fourth in Cabo Frio, in the Lakes Region, and a health center, the university is undergoing a period of significant investment in infrastructure.
The UVA offers postgraduate distance learning courses and dual certification programs, in partnership with American universities. The first courses are in conjunction with the University of Texas Arlington (UTA).
