Introduction
The Master's Degree in Transnational Business Law and Digital Technologies aims to offer an innovative training offer in the field of Private International Law, International Business Law, Company Law, European Union Law and in the field of legal problems arising from the use of digital technologies, which are studied transversally in all subjects.
The Master's Degree in Transnational Business Law and Digital Technologies aims to offer an innovative training offer in the field of Private International Law, International Business Law, Company Law, European Union Law and in the field of legal problems arising from the use of digital technologies, which are studied transversally in all subjects. By covering contents of International Law, Portuguese Law and Spanish Law, it aims to train Law graduates to exercise a legal profession, in general, in the international labor market and, specifically, in Portugal and Spain, aiming to cover to students from Portuguese-speaking countries and Hispanic countries, promoting a common legal identity and a reflection on the legal problems shared by the legal systems that make up this universe.
However, the current regulatory framework, both at the community level and in Spain and Portugal, is far from being consolidated. The fundamental rights or the rights of workers can be affected, both by business activity and administrations if digital technologies are not used responsibly and reliably, for which an efficient legal framework is required. For this reason, the need arises for graduates in Law to have sufficient skills to function in digitized work environments or that demand the resolution of legal problems linked to digital technologies. The current reality of the Galicia-North Portugal Euroregion shows that there is an increasing number of companies that provide services in one country from another, companies with headquarters in Galicia and Portugal at the same time, and cross-border workers. The legal relationships derived from this reality affect, therefore, the exercise of the legal profession in its different aspects in view of the demand for professionals with solid knowledge of the company that operates in both countries. The Master provides solid legal training on the law of digital technologies and cross-border law, providing students with sufficient skills so that they can successfully function in the new digital age.
The Master's Degree in Transnational Business Law and Digital Technologies also aims to provide students with skills for scientific research in Law.
Program Outcome
The Master's Degree in Transnational Business Law and Digital Technologies from the University of Santiago de Compostela and Universidade do Minho (Portugal) assumes as its objective the commitment to offer students high-quality specialized training in Business Law. Business and Digital Technologies, which allows you to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to develop your research and professional work in a sector of Law in full transformation and demand for skills to solve problems of internationalized and digitalized companies.
Among the objectives of the Master is for the student to know and manage the main concepts and structures of the Portuguese, Spanish and European legal system related to Company Law, particularly those related to the operation of companies and commercial contracts. labor or administrative, as well as the law and policies of administrations linked to the new digital society and economy, which will pay attention to relevant aspects derived from the use of artificial intelligence and other digital technologies and processes, such as big data, privacy and data protection, international taxation of the digital economy, competition law in digital markets or intellectual property.
Also:
- Understand the main challenges posed to the economic and social integration effort of the Euroregion of Galicia and Northern Portugal, and the role that the Law must play in this context.
- Reflect and problematize the specificity of international relations and their legal regulation, particularly in view of the new realities of the digital economy and globalization.
- Understand and problematize the legal and ethical challenges inherent to new technologies and how they are currently at the service of the legal professions, both in the field of digital law, legal tech or law tech.
- Know the legal system and learn to manage the means of judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters, existing at the international and European level.
- Train applicants with knowledge of the legal system of alternative international dispute resolution, which is often an advantageous way to resolve transnational disputes.
- Provide candidates with work skills in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, through a training immersion in a professional context.
- Empower law graduates to practice the legal profession in the international labor market, particularly in Portugal and Spain, so that they increase their employment opportunities.
- Encourage students to create international and cross-border networks between Portugal and Spain, in order to develop strategic associations between professionals who carry out their legal activities in both countries.
- Allow candidates with specific technical and scientific knowledge to complete a dissertation.

Historically, the professional opportunities of people with degrees in the legal field present a wide range of possibilities, both for the public and private sectors. The Master will equip Law graduates to work in Firms that operate internationally, especially in the cross-border area between Portugal and Spain, and/or that are highly digitalized and provide services linked to the digital economy. They can also work in technological or digitalized companies or in public administrations, where it should be noted that the latter are in the process of digitalization and incorporation of artificial intelligence to provide services and carry out administrative procedures.
