Introduction
Its objective is, therefore, to train managers with a clearly differentiated profile from that which could be obtained by taking other postgraduate courses related to the company, bringing students closer to the theoretical framework necessary to understand the reality of business accounting and financial management and promoting the development of the competences and abilities that managers of the accounting-financial field need to carry out their work in a globalized and increasingly complex context, both through classroom work and through professional internships. The Master will also provide a solid knowledge base for those students interested in working as financial analysts or in business banking.
The Interuniversity Master's Degree in Economics makes it possible to broaden the training obtained in the degrees in Economics and Business Administration, but also allows students from degrees in Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering, who have a solid quantitative background, to take advantage of these skills to access Advanced training in analytical techniques applied to the world of economics and business. In fact, possession of a degree belonging to the aforementioned areas of knowledge is a condition that grants priority in the admission process. It is a degree designed for students who want to embark on a professional career both in the business world and in the public sector. But it is also aimed at students seeking to continue their academic training with doctoral studies. To this end, the Master provides advanced training in models, techniques and methodologies commonly used in economic analysis, as well as analytical tools to understand and analyze aspects of the current economic and financial reality.
The Interuniversity Master's Degree in Economics has links capable of generating synergies that improve the possible professional opportunities of the students. In particular:
- The Interuniversity Doctorate Program in Economic Analysis and Business Strategy is also organized jointly by the Universities of Vigo, A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela.
- The Galician Research Network on Economic Analysis and Business Strategy, made up of seven research groups (4 from the University of Vigo, 2 from the University of Santiago de Compostela and 1 from the University of A Coruña), which is funded by the Xunta de Galicia.
- The ECOBAS (Economics and Business Administration for Society) Strategic Group, which brings together more than 150 researchers from 12 research groups in the field of economics and business (11 from the University of Vigo and 1 from the University of A Coruña) . ECOBAS was recognized in 2015 as a Strategic Group of the Galician University System (the only strategic group in the legal-social field) by the Ministry of Culture, Education and University Organization.
Curriculum
It takes place throughout an academic year:
- In the first semester, four subjects worth 6 ECTS (30 hours of face-to-face teaching per subject) will be taken, plus two subjects worth 3 ECTS (15 hours of face-to-face teaching per subject). These subjects are mandatory for all students.
- In the second trimester, it will be necessary to pass 18 ECTS and for this you can choose between 4 specialties. Each one consists of 6 subjects with three ECTS (15 hours of face-to-face teaching per subject).
- In addition, during the months of May, June and July, it will be necessary to complete 140 hours of internships in companies, as well as a Master's Thesis. These two activities have a value of 6 ECTS each, completing a total of 60 ECTS.
There are up to five places in the part-time modality, which allows you to complete the Master's degree in more than one course. Whoever wishes to opt for this modality must request it at the time of formalizing registration and may be authorized by the Academic Commission.

The subjects of the first semester are taught simultaneously at the three universities, so that students from each university follow the classes taught at the university itself.
The specialty of Public Policies and Regional Economic Analysis is taught at the University of A Coruña; The specialty of Economics and Finance is taught at the University of Santiago de Compostela; The specialty of Economy and Society is taught at the University of Vigo; Finally, the different subjects of the Economic Analysis specialty are distributed among the three universities.
To facilitate the monitoring of the subjects of one university by students enrolled in the others, when necessary, a videoconferencing system will be used.
Program Outcome
The general objective of this degree is to train professionals in Economics and Business with a high academic background that allows them to enter professional life with high training for making strategic decisions or, if applicable, successfully undertake subsequent studies of doctorate.
It is therefore about offering a master's degree that completes the training obtained in the degrees in Economics, Business Administration or other similar qualifications and that qualifies the students who take it to carry out a professional activity or undertake an internationally competitive doctoral program.
