The University

It was the year 1962 when Professor Manoel Bezerra de Melo created in the city of Mogi das Cruzes, one elementary school, which at that time was still called "gym". There began to Mogiana Organization for Education and Culture - COME.

In 1964, the first colleges were established educational complex that from 1973 became the University of Mogi das Cruzes (UMC). Tradition and pioneering mark the fifty year history of the institution.

Throughout this period, UMC comes to preparing his students, now numbering more than 20,000 in Mogi das Cruzes campuses and Villa-Lobos / Lapa, to the demands of the labor market and the exercise of citizenship.

Currently the University of Mogi das Cruzes has dozens of courses whose content and teaching-learning methods are continuously updated and improved. The faculty is made up of UMC 60% of masters and doctors, many of whom develop major scientific projects. Students can also participate in research projects, receiving research fellowships.

To this end, the University maintains exchanges with national and international institutions and also offers laboratories, modern equipment and spaces specially designed for the development of classes, lectures, conferences, among many other academic activities.

Thanks to these features, the University of Mogi das Cruzes has been outstanding in training professionals in the areas of Exact and Technological Sciences, Humanities and Health Sciences. Today, the UMC is among the best universities.

The university was assessed recently by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and obtained Note 4 on a scale 1-5, which places it among the top private universities in Brazil and the best of the Alto Tiete region.
