Introduction
Overview
The Department of Psychology & counselling offers a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology. The need for qualified clinicians and mental health professionals to serve the community necessitated the establishment of this program. The Master of Science program is designed to provide proper training for Masters level psychologists to work in a variety of clinical settings including hospitals, schools, public agencies, and private practice. It also provides a foundation for students interested in pursuing advanced doctoral studies. The program focuses on the field of clinical psychology. The curriculum is structured to enable students to pursue a plan of study to assure increased professional competence and breadth of knowledge in the field of clinical psychology. This program requires 39 semester hours of study, including two practicum courses (600 clock hours) of supervised practicum experience in an approved mental health or rehabilitation setting.

Merit Fellowship Award
To receive the Merit Award, students are expected to have high academic credentials and maintain their academic success at the UAEU. The Merit Fellowship Award offers financial assistance in the form of partial tuition waiver to qualified students. Students in STEM and strategic areas of the country (renewable energy, transportation, health, water resources, technology, space) will have priority.
Student Eligibility:
- Have Excellent Academic Standing (GPA ≥ 3.6/4.0).
- Maintain a GPA ≥3.6/4.0 during study at UAEU.
- Have no other financial sponsorship or award.

- 50% discount on tuition fees.
Duration:
- Valid until graduation as long as the student is abiding with the Student Eligibility conditions.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge that is culturally sound and relevant to professional and ethical practices in the field of mental health.
- Conduct a proper psychological assessment.
- Diagnose successfully clients’ clinical problems using DSM/ ICD.
- Create suitable treatment plans for diverse psychological disorders.
- Apply therapeutic skills to help clients (individuals and groups) overcome their psychological disorders.
- Communicate comprehensive and understandable psychological reports to all parties involved.
- Apply appropriate methodology to conduct research in clinical psychology.
