Introduction
The MSc in Construction Project Management prepares students for a professional role in the management of construction projects by introducing the general skills of strategic, organisational and people management and the technical, financial and administrative skills appropriate to professionals, within the context of the construction process. The individual courses combine to cover the procedures involved in the effective management of all phases of construction and the economic, institutional and legal constraints which determine them. The academic team are respected in their research areas, and teaching content is strongly informed by their research developments. Industry focus is also an important aspect of the programme, with industry practitioners contributing to most courses.
The programme, including all its majors, is recognized by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The major in Quantity Surveying is further accredited by the Quantity Surveying Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) and Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS).
Each year we target to admit 50 full-time and part-time students, most of which have their first degrees from top 300, or leading national, universities around the world. Educational backgrounds differ, but most students have their undergraduate majors in architecture, construction and engineering or business and the broader social sciences. All students have a connection to construction, either through their educational background or working experience and are looking to take the next step in their careers. This diverse educational and professional background of the student cohort offers significant opportunities for experiential learning and networking.
