Developments in information technology, space exploration, and genetic modification, as well as advances in material science, are governed and shaped by institutions that set science and technology policy. This program equips its students to work at the forefront of policy affecting the science and technology arena.
Curriculum
What You'll Study
Our curriculum combines required and elective courses that provide professional training in innovation and economic growth, technology management, technology and development, space policy, and national security.
To earn your Master of Arts in International Science and Technology Policy you must successfully complete our 40 credit program which includes 9 credits of core courses, 15 credits in your chosen Concentration field, 6 credits of Analytical Competency courses, a 1 credit Skills course, and 9 credits of electives.
Concentration Field
Students will select a concentration field which allows them to focus on areas of particular interest, such as space policy, the environment, or technology management. In consultation with the program director, students may also design their own concentrations.
Analytical Competency
Students will take six credits of analytical competency courses designed to impart background and analytical tools used in policy evaluation. Students will choose courses among the following categories: policy analysis and public administration; economic theory and concepts; and research methods.
Prerequisite
Science
Students are encouraged to have strong analytical skills and a demonstrated interest in policy issues with significant science or technology dimensions.
