Introduction
The MA in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology is a degree program for educators, psychologists, and other professionals in education who are seeking to work with children, adolescents, families, and schools. The program focuses on the development of specialized knowledge and skills that prepare candidates to conduct assessments, prevention, and interventions for students’ psychological and learning difficulties. The program equips candidates from various backgrounds with the specialist knowledge and skills required to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally, and to serve as positive agents of change in challenging environments. This is achieved through an integrated curriculum of academic theory, skills development, and practical experiences in the form of a supervised practicum at appropriate professional settings.
- Duration: One year (full-time) or up to three years (part-time).
- Number of Courses: 10 courses, a practicum and a thesis (36 US credits).
- Attendance: Classes run Monday to Thursday, from 17:30-20:30. Fridays are reserved for make-up classes and other academic activities, such as master classes, workshops, lectures, talks, etc.
- Admission points: New students are admitted at the start of the fall, winter and spring terms.

Ideal Students
This degree is ideal for psychology or education graduates and graduates with a social science background who are interested in:

The program attracts students from other backgrounds as well. Depending on their previous studies, applicants who do not hold a first degree in psychology may be asked to demonstrate competence and coursework in Introduction to Psychology. Otherwise, applicants may be asked to complete a course of the Graduate Certificate in Psychology, which provides them with the basic foundations required to enter the program.

Program Outcome
Upon successful completion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate critical knowledge and understanding of the core theories in learning, human development, and developmental psychopathology.
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of evidence-based assessment techniques and interventions at the individual, group, and systems levels.
- Utilize evidence-based assessment techniques and interventions at the individual, group, and system levels.
- Demonstrate multicultural competence in communicating, consulting, and working effectively with individuals and families from diverse communities.
- Implement core ethical principles underpinning professional practice.
- Apply professional work characteristics including effective oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Construct the appropriate research design, collect data, and implement the necessary statistical techniques to answer research questions relevant to applied child and adolescent psychology.
