Introduction
MTIM is an interdisciplinary MSc program offered by the Technical University of Crete (ranked in the top 9.5% according to World University Rankings 2023), of a minimum duration of one (1) academic year for the full-time program and two (2) academic years for the part-time program. It is coordinated by the School of Production Engineering and Management with the collaboration of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The program may include an optional summer internship - Startup Nation Study Trip.
The course language of the program is English.
The courses are offered through an eLearning platform.
The MTIM program is designed for graduates from a wide range of academic backgrounds including Engineering Schools, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Agriculture, Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, Medical & Bio-medical, Military Academies and Technological Universities & Institutes from EU and non-EU countries.

The Master in Technology & Innovation Management (MTIM) program builds upon the technical strengths of engineers and scientists by providing them with skills and knowledge to manage technology and innovation within their organizations. The MTIM program is suitable for those working in the public or private sector.

Scholarships and Funding
Academic Year 2023-24 Scholarships
The Master of Technology & Innovation Management (MTIM) program, in collaboration with the Public Gas Corporation (DEPA), will grant 7 scholarships of 2400€ each.
Who are eligible:
1. Full-time Students who will be enrolled in the Program for the Academic Year 2023-24
Four (4) full-time students with the highest GPA in the 4 courses of the First Semester are exempt from the remaining payments.
The 1st installment (1600€) must be deposited.
2. Part-time Students who will be enrolled to the Program for the Academic Year 2023-24
Three (3) part-time students with the highest GPA in the 4 courses of the first Academic Year (2 courses of the First and 2 of the Second Semester), are exempted from the remaining payments.
The 1st and the 2nd installment (800€+800€) must be deposited.
Important Notes:
- Students that are exempt from tuition fees (according to Article 86 - Law 4957/2022), can not be included in the Scholarship procedure.
- Part-time students that pause their studies for the 2nd semester can not be in the Scholarship procedure.
- Anyone who does not complete his/her studies in the set time (ie. 1 Academic Year for the full-time students, or 2 Academic Years for the part-time students) is required to pay the remaining 2400€, in order to receive the MTIM diploma. The Scholarship will be passed on to the next eligible student, based on their grades.
- The Scholarship can not be accredited in cash.
Curriculum
Program Structure
The MTIM Postgraduate Program leads to a Master of Science (MSc) degree in ‘Technology and Innovation Management’. The MTIM has been designed around the specific themes of Technology & Innovation Management. The units are structured to provide a strong and coherent narrative.
The program’s duration is either 12 months (full-time) or 24 months (part-time).
The full-time graduate program comprises:
- Two semesters of 13 weeks each one with coursework on a full-time basis (60 ECTS). Formal examinations are conducted after each semester, and
- Following the successful completion of their exams, the students will have a 3-month period to prepare their master thesis (15 ECTS).
The course will consist of three main components:
- Lectures
- Laboratory exercises
- Computer exercises
These take place during a two-semester period (13 weeks each).
The courses are offered through an eLearning platform.
The full-time program is altered accordingly.

MTIM Internship: Startup Nation Study Trip
Students may attend intensive summer academic training in a country that is specialized in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. Internship is optional and students who wish to participate will have to cover the cost.
The goals of the course are:
- Experience first-hand the “startup phenomenon and its socioeconomic impact;
- Acquire fundamental knowledge in entrepreneurial policy design
- Hands-on training on startup creation process
- Investigate possible subjects for the execution of the final project/thesis
Master Thesis
The program is completed with a Master Thesis.
