Takasaki City University Of Economics

About

Since its opening in 1957, Takasaki City University of Economics has developed as a distinctive local public university where students from all over the country gather and study here in Takasaki. The Faculty of Regional Policy was established in 1996, and the Department of International Studies was established in the Faculty of Economics in 2017, creating a system of two faculties and six departments. We have accepted many international students, mainly from Asia, and have established a system to study and educate regional and global issues from a global perspective. On the other hand, looking at society, we are facing a crisis of sustainability with various environmental and social issues from local communities to the world. Climate change, for example, has become a reality and the frequency of heavy rains and floods is increasing in many parts of the world. The government has declared that it will aim for virtually zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2050, but it is said that a 40% to 50% reduction will be necessary by 2030 to limit the rise in average temperature to 1.5 ° C. For that purpose, it is necessary not only to change energy but also to make a major change in economic and social systems and industrial structure such as resource utilization, transportation system, and urban development. It also has a significant impact on the local economy. On the other hand, widening economic inequality accelerates social division and digital transformation spurs. The downfall of the middle class, combined with the aging population and declining population, is causing the exhaustion of the local community. Students graduating from our university will enter society in this chaotic era. Naturally, it is necessary to develop the ability to survive in that. At that time, I want you to be a "Future Maker" that not only passively adapts to the changing environment, but also creates a better future for you. To that end, the University offers quality education and diverse opportunities for students to grow. Students can practice activities through seminars, experience of studying abroad and field work overseas, activities of athletic clubs and circles, various activities such as Sangi Festival (university festival), Tsurutaka Festival, volunteers, etc. And we will learn and grow through many opportunities such as daily exchanges between faculty members and students. By producing talented human resources in this way, we hope to be a Future Maker that contributes to the construction of a sustainable society.
