Various scholarships, fellowships and instructional associate positions are awarded to incoming Newhouse students to help offset the cost of attendance. Since Newhouse does have limited funding to offer, the majority of these awards are partial and only applicable for the academic year (excluding the summer sessions). It is also a competitive process, and all awards are merit-based.

Accreditation
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications is one of 100+ mass communications schools accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC). Our voluntary participation in self-assessment and external review helps to ensure that Newhouse students consistently receive excellent preparation for their future careers in the communications industries. Our accreditation reflects our commitment to nine standards that translate into small class sizes, hands-on learning experiences, an introduction to communications law, comprehensive advising and career development, and a strong liberal arts foundation. To learn more about accreditation and why it matters, visit the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications website.
The Newhouse School is housed in a 250,000-square-foot, three-building complex that includes state-of-the-art classrooms, professional studios, a digital news centre, a 300-seat auditorium, a research centre, a doctoral student suite and offices, an executive education wing, a café and many spaces for formal and informal meetings and collaboration among students, faculty and staff.
We conduct holistic admissions review and GREs are optional for all master's programs. No prior experience in communications is required. Our online application walks you through what is required, and there are slight variations depending on the program. The link below contains all the details.
The United States government requires international students to demonstrate sufficient funding for at least the first year of graduate study. Once you’ve done this, Syracuse University can issue the visa eligibility document that you’ll need to have your student visa authorized.
Newhouse graduates are actively recruited throughout the communications industry because of our reputation for excellence, high standards and integrity.
Newhouse graduates find work in their fields. Our recent graduate statistics reflect the current state of the economy. Starting salaries in recent years have rebounded, perhaps due in part to more positions being available in the industry in recent years.
