Introduction
The MSc in Sustainable Engineering Management For International Development is a highly applied course with taught elements and a substantial project deliverable.
You will learn to think rapidly and flexibly, acting decisively in the absence of complete information in order to improve the quality of life through engineering solutions.
Most of the world’s construction is located in “developing countries, primarily in the Southern Hemisphere” (UNDP). These environments face challenges from extreme poverty and food shortages to manmade climate change and irreversible loss of biodiversity.
This course aims to make you part of a new generation of practitioners who can address such challenges through practical engineering solutions, building resilience for local communities in the face of rapid urbanisation.
Why Sustainable Engineering Management for International Development at Swansea?
The College of Engineering at Swansea has an established global reputation for pioneering research in engineering and a firm commitment to international development, reflected by recent student mobility projects in countries such as Zambia, Liberia and South Africa.

Your Sustainable Engineering Management for International Development Experience
Throughout this one-year course, you will concentrate on “applied” sustainable engineering in a real-life environment, involving interaction with real stakeholders in international development.
You will gain a multidisciplinary appreciation of how theory can be applied in the real world, learning how cross-collaboration with the College of Arts and Humanities and the Prince’s Foundation created the course, and why this is relevant.
The College of Engineering has an international community of over 500 postgraduate students and 120 research staff.
You will have access to our on-site library, open 24 hours a day, advanced laboratories, a year-round programme of guest lectures, and dedicated postgraduate workrooms.
