Introduction
The CMHC program produces competent and ethical counsellors who are qualified to be licensed at the state level and maintain stable and meaningful employment in the mental health field.
Upon completing the program, students will be fully prepared to take the National Counselor Certification Exam leading to state licensure as a professional counsellor. From Fall 2017 through Spring 2020, 88.89% of graduates from the CMHC program who completed the NCE passed the exam. Most graduates from the CMHC program work as licensed professional counsellors. Several of these individuals hold administrative positions within their places of employment. In addition to working in the counselling profession, a handful of our former students currently serve as adjunct instructors at Southeastern for the undergraduate psychology program and select graduate counselling courses.
