Program Outcome
The learning outcomes of the Chemical Engineering Degree Programme are:
- Having a thorough preparation in the basic sciences (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) and in the general engineering subjects (Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Building Science) that enables graduates to interact with other specialists
The specific training of the Chemical Engineer is mainly focused on the management of the chemical and physical transformations of materials, thanks to the knowledge and ability to select the types of processes, the operating conditions, and the best equipment to create them.
The Chemical Engineer possesses the methodological tools that are necessary to understand thermodynamic principles, unit operations, and reactive systems, as well as the aspects related to plant design and management.
The thorough knowledge acquired, even if it is not in-depth, enables the Chemical Engineer to deal with ordinary problems directly and to find and use the information that is necessary to solve more complex cases.
These activities start during the first year of the Programme when students are provided with knowledge regarding organic industrial chemistry. During the second year, these activities are intensified and students acquire knowledge regarding the characteristics and uses of materials and of the water that is used during the processes, the theoretical aspects and methodologies of thermodynamics, and the technical foundations related to the design of structures and the use of electricity.
During the third year, students complete the acquisition of the theoretical and methodological foundations related to data analysis, mass, heat, and momentum transport phenomena, separation operations, and the equipment and plants in which these separations take place. Students also learn about the most important chemical processes and the technical foundations that are behind the functioning of thermal machines and behind the functioning of the machines that are used for fluid handling.
Scholarships and Funding
We can offer such convenient rates thanks to public funding from the Italian Ministry of Higher Education. Additionally, students can apply for various scholarships available at different levels, awarded based on academic merit and/or family income.

Career Opportunities
The most natural outlet for first-level graduates is to continue their training by undertaking further specialization courses through the LM22 Masters Degree (Chemical Engineering) or other similar Masters degrees, such as, for example, the LM26 Degree (Safety Engineering) and the LM53 Degree (Materials Science and Engineering).
The outlets in the job market are mainly linked to the professional skills acquired during the Study Programme and therefore regard the possibility of working in companies, institutions, and bodies that are involved, in various ways, in the transformation of substances, materials, and energy processes.
The sectors in which a Chemical Engineer with a three-year degree can be employed and where he/she may carry out the functions described above are the following:
- Chemical plants for the production and transformation of chemical substances, refineries, petrochemical complexes, pharmaceuticals, food, biotechnological industries, etc.
- Plants for the transformation of raw materials and for the production and processing of materials (metals, polymers, ceramics, glass, composites) that may be used in the various fields of engineering (chemical, mechanical, aerospace, electrical and electronics, energy, construction, transport, biomedical, cultural heritage)
- Engineering companies that design, develop, and implement processes and plants
- Water and wastewater treatment plants
- Laboratories and public bodies that are responsible for safety inspections and environmental control
- Research centers and industrial research and development laboratories in companies and public and private bodies in the various fields of chemical, process, and product engineering.
