Introduction

DIMA is part of Sapienza University of Rome and inherits the tradition of the School of Industrial Engineering and the School of Aerospace Engineering, founded in 1913 and 1926, respectively. The department is based on the premises of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering at Sapienza, on the Esquiline Hill, near the Flavian amphitheater, also known as the Colosseum, and next to the church of San Pietro in Vincoli.

DIMA is a community of professors, students, and technical, administrative, and library staff, that promotes research, training, and innovation in the fields of mechanical and aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, energy, management engineering, nanotechnologies, and related sectors.
The department pursues its mission through an integrated vision of three pillars of research, education, and innovation in a multidisciplinary dimension of excellence and quality according to the highest international standards, responding to the societal challenges at an Italian, European, and international level and to the needs of advanced training of students. DIMA strategy resonates with national and international policies driven by the challenge of a paradigm jump towards sustainability, and smart technologies in industry, space, and health.

DIMA offers two bachelor's degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering and three master's degree programs in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, and space and astronautical engineering, two of which are taught entirely in English, as well as three doctoral and five professional master's degrees.

The Aeronautics and Aviation Management and Operations Division develops capabilities and technologies to innovate integrated design of present and future aerial vehicles and unmanned aerial systems with a special interest in sustainability. The division is also active in the area of airport operations integrating aeronautical technologies with strategic planning, security, safety regulations & risk, operations, and maintenance. The division is one of the key partners of ENAC.

The professional master in Aviation Industry Management and Operations (AvIMO), delivered by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMA) in collaboration with the Italian Civil Aviation Authority ENAC, has been designed by academics and industry experts specifically for those who aspire to lead and innovate in the dynamic world of aviation. In an industry where efficiency, safety, and innovation are paramount, this program will provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and autonomy to address the complex challenges of aviation management and operations.
