The program for the Master of Arts Degree in Regional Studies at the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia is unique in its content and structure. It makes a significant element in the studies of international relations.

The program is specially designed to help the students gain a greater understanding of how the global system works. It forms the basis for the student to customize the degree by branching out into a specific region of his or her choice to study its geography, history, political developments, diplomacy, economy and so forth.

Within this program, the student is offered a chance to gain an excellent knowledge of two foreign languages up to the Proficiency level. Furthermore, the program also includes optional courses, such as International Management, Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations, instrumental in mastering the skills needed to communicate freely in today’s complicated international environment. Geographically, we offer specialization in the following area – European studies.

Much of the research the students do is self-selected, allowing them to walk their own path of personal or professional interest. The result is that the students can dig deep into their chosen field, which ensures a rich return on their educational investment and increases their ability to make a significant contribution to the studies in that area.

It is aimed to teach the M.A. students the skills of independent study of the present-day economic situation in the profile region, and an ability to develop a scientific explanation of the chief causes and patterns of economic, social and political processes taking place in individual countries of the profile region, and to disclose their interrelationship and interaction with similar developments at regional and global levels.
