Program description


This master's degree aims to train professionals specialized in the problems of Latin America and the construction of a new research profile of the Latin American region from the perspective of the Russian "Latin Americanism", which contemplates the variety of historical trajectories of the countries of the region. and its current political, economic, social and cultural developments.


The master's program proposes to address the knowledge of the complex cultural and historical construction of Latin America, through a multidisciplinary approach that favors the plurality of approaches, methods and perspectives.


To this end, this master's degree is organized around a network of the main Russian and international academic institutions, which have vast experience and a long tradition in Latin American studies, with the purpose of generating a fluid exchange between its teachers, students and researchers with those from similar programs and institutes in Latin America and other regions of the world.


The Master's program analyzes the current problems of development in Latin America in the light of two fundamental elements: The socio-political historical development of Latin America and the process of economic globalization that frames and characterizes the contemporary problems of development in the region.


This approach makes it possible to find more complex lines of explanation for the advances and lags of the development process in Latin America, while allowing an integrated and interdisciplinary vision of the intense relationship between national and regional processes and the global environment. In this context, the master's degree aims to meet the following objectives:


• Train teachers, researchers and professionals specialized in understanding and studying the current reality of Latin America, as well as its relations with Russia from a
multidisciplinary perspective.

• Promote an integrating vision of the economic, social, political and cultural processes of the region with the processes of cooperation and economic-commercial and cultural relations that are developed between Russia and the countries of Latin America.

• Contribute to the development of an area of debate, criticism and circulation of ideas in the Region and in Russia, based on the exchange between researchers, teachers and students from the
different academic institutions that sponsor and participate in this Mestria program.

The master's degree offers the following graduation specialties depending on the training profile of the participants:

• Specialist in economic development, integration and public policies in Latin America.

• Specialist in economic-commercial relations between Russia and Latin America.

• Expert in historical, political and socio-cultural processes in Latin America.


Career opportunities


The Master's program has the academic and professional purpose of preparing experts who can work both in the academic world (teachers-researchers), as well as in private and public institutions (local, state, multilateral) developing tasks related to public management, business, the cooperation, immigration-integration and international relations.

The Master's is aimed at professionals from Latin America who have completed the first level of university higher education.
