Introduction
The MSc SIA offers top-level training in the analysis of the economic, social and environmental impact of economic decisions, infrastructure projects and public policies, in the context of the transformation of our society towards sustainable development. It enables students to acquire the most effective and rigorous impact assessment tools and methods, based on the most recent developments in academic research and field experience.
Courses are taught by professors from PSE and the École nationale des ponts et chaussées, whose research in their fields is internationally recognized, as well as by experienced practitioners in project management and financing, sustainable finance and consulting, offering a unique balance between academic excellence and practical expertise.
The program, accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, delivers 90 ECTS credits. Courses are divided between fundamentals and applied courses, developing a core of skills in economic analysis and quantitative methods, finance and project management. Courses with a strong professionalization dimension (indicated by an *) are shared between PSE and ENPC professors and industry practitioners.
Why train in impact analysis?
In a global context faced with urgent social and environmental challenges and growing financial constraints, society needs impact experts more than ever to steer investment decisions and public policies towards projects that benefit the common good. Evaluating and measuring economic, social and environmental impacts requires a mastery of quantitative tools to exploit data, the judicious choice of existing evaluation methods, the ability to conduct in-depth sectoral analyses, to understand the economic environment of decisions, to assess risks and uncertainties, as well as to develop financing studies and explore innovative economic models. These quantitative and analytical skills are at the heart of the MSc SIA program.
What you learn in the MSc SIA :
- Evaluation methods such as cost-benefit analysis, multi-criteria analysis, contingent valuation, and counterfactual methods (experimental and quasi-experimental).
- Quantitative methods and IT tools (R, Python) for analyzing and processing quantitative and qualitative data.
- Sector analysis and understanding of economic, social and environmental issues to contextualize assessments.
- Analysis, measurement and management of risk and uncertainty.
- Project financing, sustainable finance and CSR.
- Practical application of methods under professional conditions through the Capstone Project and compulsory internship.
