In 1998, the first independent state university was established in Legnica. The beginnings of the State Higher Vocational School Witelon in Legnica were not easy. The university started without its own material base and academic teachers. Despite this, within a few years it became the largest university of this type in Poland. The largest one, because over 14,000 students study full-time, part-time and postgraduate studies, and the area of classrooms exceeds 21,000. m2, or over two hectares.
In 2008, the Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa im. Witelona w Legnicy celebrated its 10th anniversary. At that time, a great deal of work was done to develop the University from an unknown institution into an independent university, affecting the city and the region. Development of the State Higher Vocational School Witelon in Legnica lasts all the time.
