Northern Illinois University College of Business

Introduction

Since its beginnings in 1961, Northern Illinois University's College of Business has lived up to its strong reputation for narrowing the gap between thinking and doing.even in the face of exponential change. Along with its outstanding academic programs and classroom instruction, the college encourages meaningful learning by placing students in real-world business situations. This happens in any combination of ways, many of which involve learning directly in Chicago's extensive business community with the support of coaching from the college's highly-regarded professors. Or NIU business students may work in faculty-guided student teams on semester-long projects that involve many successful members of the college's more than 42,000 business alumni. In the classroom and in the business world, NIU's business college helps students more fully understand how their education really impacts the world of actual business practices...and as importantly, how their education truly impacts their own lives. As a result, NIU business students transform their future. They graduate from the college with both the intellectual capability and the nimbleness to be successful in a demanding world.

AACSB Accreditation

Accreditation is a process of voluntary, non-governmental review of educational institutions and programs. Specialized agencies award accreditation for professional programs and academic units in particular fields of study.

AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in management education.

The College of Business at Northern Illinois University is proud to have achieved continuous accreditation since 1969. Our faculty and staff, under the leadership of Dean Denise Schoenbachler and Associate Dean Paul Prabhaker, are key components to our continued success.
