Introduction

The Master of Economics degree is a non-thesis coursework only degree that offers two tracks: the Applied Economics and Policy Analysis Track, and the PhD Preparatory Track.

Applied Economics and Policy Analysis Track

Students choosing the Applied Economics and Policy Analysis Track will complete a quantitatively rigorous core sequence that includes two semesters of econometric analysis. In their last semester, these students will also complete Economic Writing, a course designed to give students hands-on experience combining analytical techniques and theory in a research setting.

PhD Preparatory Track

Students following the PhD Preparatory Track will receive thorough training in economic theory lending them the tools required to excel in doctoral level study. The PhD Preparatory Track requires students to complete at least two doctoral level courses. In addition to the core presented below, students are encouraged to complete a sequence in statistical theory.
