Introduction

The National University of Engineering is an educational institution which was founded in 1876 by the Polish engineer Eduardo de Habich, with the name of the Special School of Civil Construction and Mines of Peru, traditionally known as the School of Engineering, and turned into a university in 1955 at the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING (UNI). Today it is the first and main training center for engineers, architects, and scientists in our country.

The emergence of the School with the specialties of mining engineering and civil engineering is due, as indicated in its creation act, to "the needs of the country."

UNI reaffirms its commitment to contribute to training people capable of feeling, valuing, interpreting, and transforming the world of individual existence, as well as the collective social one.

Its formative purposes are reconciled with the search for social justice and the defense of freedom. The scientific and technological culture that the UNI advocates does not pretend to legitimize itself, it aims to satisfy the basic needs of the peoples of Peru. It is respectful of our cultural and biological diversity and seeks to ensure for society, present, and future, the permanence of renewable wealth and the environmental conditions required for its survival and development.
