Introduction

The Master in Public Culture starts from a vision associated with “public culture” understood as the interrelation of the State and society; considers that none of these areas are monolithic, but spaces of heterogeneity, disputes, and tensions in which institutions, different agents in the field of culture and citizens constituted from their multiple belongings intervene. This constantly demands new tools for those who work in the field of public culture in order to respond to these transformations and implement public policies according to the particular realities of their field of action.

Thus, the postgraduate course becomes a vital instrument for those who wish to articulate their undergraduate training with a career that allows them to think about artistic production in the space of public cultural planning.

This Master's Degree transcends the “managerial” character that has prevailed in training in cultural management and retakes the training of key agents for the cultural sector. In this sense, it aims to reposition the field of culture in the sphere of the public scene in order to contribute to the democratization of our society.

The Master's degree has been designed from another concept of training that makes it necessary to review the approaches to the field of culture in relation to the continuous prominence that this field takes in our country, regions, and localities. It seeks to transcend the perspective and meaning given to "cultural management" in recent years, in order to get involved with the public value of culture.
