Introduction
Master Program in Hakka Social and Cultural Studies, the first Hakka academic research and educational organization in Taiwan, was established in August 2003. Taiwan is a multicultural society, with a variety of ethnic groups that speak different languages, for example, the aboriginal, Holo, Hakka, etc. This makes Taiwan a society of rich cultural heritage. Our program provides students with interdisciplinary courses on issues of Hakka society and culture in Taiwan and overseas, such as China and Southeast Asia. Moreover, students are trained how to conduct fieldwork in local fields as one of the main research methods.
