Introduction
Candidates will be prepared to effectively teach and meet the unique needs of culturally and linguistically diverse student populations in the classroom. Through this program, candidates will learn fundamental concepts about language, language development and culturally-linguistically diverse populations. They will also learn pedagogical principals and approaches to integrate language instruction through a lens of socio-cultural competence across multiple domains of linguistic development reading, writing, listening, speaking, and making meta-linguistic connections. Candidates learn to effectively apply theories and methods for grammar and vocabulary in a variety of educational contexts with special focus on assessing and giving feedback to learners and developing strategies for building a language-supported classroom.
