Introduction
The aim of the programme is to provide in-depth knowledge in additive manufacturing (AM) in metals with a special focus on, but not limited to, powder bed fusion technologies. The programme aims to fulfil the ever-increasing need of trained AM specialists pinpointed by Swedish and European industry and policy defining bodies.
During your studies, you will interact with international academic and industry experts in the field of AM and you can expect to get access to a vast network within academia and industry. The group hosting the programme is one of the most experienced in the field of electron beam-based powder bed fusion and began research in the early 00’s, it was also one of the first in the world to install a machine, in 2007.
The programme is fully taught in English and deals with a theoretical and practical base ranging from sustainability and design to materials, manufacturing and production technology. The different areas of knowledge are integrated to provide a good understanding of the possibilities and limitations of the different technologies. The programme also develops your skills in modelling, simulation and material characterisation.
Your profile is preferably within mechanical engineering, materials science or production technology and the programme leads to a Master of Science (60 credits) with a major in Mechanical Engineering.
