Introduction
The 2nd Cycle Degree Course (Master Degree) in Civil Engineering has the purpose to educate professional figures that, apart from possessing a solid transversal preparation, have a high degree of specialization in the fields of the hydraulic and sea works, of the planning of structural systems and of the infrastructures of transport.
The specific formative objectives of the Course are the following:
- Knowledge of the fit mathematical methodologies to resolve problem list of civil engineering and ability of resolution through numerical calculation for the applications used in engineering;
- Knowledge of the solution of problem list of maritime hydraulic engineering among which pipeline;
- Knowledge of the methods for the sizing and the verification of vertical dam, for offshore structures and finally for the coast defense problem;
- Knowledge of the principal methods for the calculation of the stress and strain of structures;
- Ability to analyze the building organisms in their constructive, functional, typological and formal aspects;
- Theoretical and applied knowledge related to the organization and to the technical-economic management of the yards and the fittings for infrastructures;
- Knowledge and ability of application of the criterions design for railway and airport infrastructure;
- Knowledge of the behavior of a ground in static and dynamic condition; analysis, planning and realization of geotechnical works both superficial and with deep foundations and analysis of their interaction with the surrounding ground; design for the geotechnical consolidation of the buildings, for the stabilization of the slant and for the improvement of the ground constitutive properties. The formative objectives and the results of learning attended allow the graduate to exercise, but also to continue the studies in University Specialization Masters or Ph.D. courses.
