Introduction
The growing concern for the quality of life and development of the child and youth population has been on the rise during this century in Colombia and the recognition of children and adolescents as subjects of rights and not as subjects of protection changes the perspective on the country. However, we are still very far from being able to assume these commitments. The psychosocial problem overflows the plans and projects formulated and impacts everyday areas such as the family, school, and communities, seriously affecting the development of children and adolescents and especially their Mental Health.
Thinking about the current conditions of the child and adolescent population, the new possibilities of understanding and approaching them, and the social relevance that they take as subjects, the Master in Mental Health of Children and Adolescents arises, which proposes to carry out a new reading of the realities of these generations, researching the strategies that favor their development and building knowledge around the mental health of these populations in Colombia, that seek their empowerment in society, where they are architects of their own destiny and bearers of their rights, their duties, and their opportunities.
The Master's Degree in Mental Health for Children and Adolescents is aimed at professionals in the Social, Human, and Health Sciences. The program, coordinated by the Faculty of Psychology, is based on the experience of the groups recognized by Colciencias: Mental Health and Psychology, Health and Society. This gives the program its pillars of training: a mental health approach oriented to public health, without forgetting the individual differences, the potentialities, and the needs of the subjects.
