The M.S. in Taxation at Loyola Marymount University prepares skilled, ethical tax professionals for a complex, strategic and evolving environment. Whether your goal is to launch your career, increase your professional competencies or earn your CPA license, this flexible program allows you to gain an in-depth understanding of tax law and practice on a full-time or part-time basis.

M.S. in Taxation Eligibility Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from a foreign institution.

* These prerequisite courses may be completed at LMU as additional units required for the M.S. in Taxation degree.

Space remains available in our incoming fall 2022 class for qualified candidates who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. If you are interested in starting the program this fall (classes begin in late August), please complete your application as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to consider applications for fall 2022 from international applicants who require a student visa.

The spring 2023 semester begins on January 9, 2023; we will begin reviewing applications in September 2022.

November 18, 2022: Deadline for international applicants requiring a student visa.

December 2, 2022: Deadline for domestic applicants.

The fall 2023 semester begins on August 28, 2023; we will begin reviewing applications in January 2023.

May 15, 2023: Round 3 (international applicants)

May 31, 2023: Round 3 (domestic applicants)

We will continue to accept applications after May 31, 2023 until all spaces are full.

Complete and submit an online application and pay a $50 non-refundable application fee.

Resume: You will be required to upload a professional resume.

Personal Statement: You will be required to upload a personal statement, 2–4 pages (12-point font, double-spaced), addressing why you are pursuing an M.S. in Taxation, the reasons you are applying to LMU and the unique strengths you will bring to our program. We also ask that you describe an ethical dilemma that you have encountered and how you resolved it.

Admissions Option 2

LMU provides an excellent value for a quality M.S. in Taxation program. Tuition for the 2022–2023 academic year is $1,526 per unit. At 30 units, total tuition cost for the program is $45,780.
