What is the LIBF’s history?

In 1879, LIBF was founded on the vision of a small group of banking professionals who recognised the importance of professional accreditation for individuals within the industry. Their initiative laid the foundation for the first Institute of Bankers in England and Wales which later became LIBF.

Today, LIBF provides students all over the world with everything they need to learn flexibly online, anywhere, and is the only professional body in the world with taught degree awarding powers. We have a global community of students and alumni spanning over 130 countries.
