For several of our studies, you must submit an entrance exam in addition to your application. For some of the studies, you must also submit a self-assessment form, and some must attend tryouts or auditions.

Your citizenship determines what kind of visa or study permit you need to study in Norway. If you are in doubt regarding the application for visa and study permit, contact the nearest Norwegian Embassy/Consulate or check with the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI).

• Citizens from Nordic countries
  Citizens from Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland) who plan to live in Norway for more than six months, must go to Tax Office (Skatteetaten) for an ID check and to submit a notification of change of address no later than 8 days after your arrival in Norway. You have to book an appointment on their website on beforehand.
• Citizens from EU/EEA countries
  Citizens from EU/EEA countries do not need a visa to enter Norway, but they are required to register their stay at Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA), within 3 months after their arrival in Norway. You need to book an appointment beforehand in the UDI Application Portal.
  
  Citizens from EU/EEA countries who plan to stay in Norway for a period shorter than 90 days do not need to register their stay.
• Citizens from Non-EU/EEA countries
  Citizens from non-EU/EEA countries need to apply for a study permit to study in Norway.
• When applying for a master's programme at Kristiania University College, non-EU/EEA citizens must document their financial ability. This can be documented with one of the followings:
  • a recent official bank statement in your own name
  • a letter confirming that you are eligible for a scholarship/student loan from your home country
  • a sponsor guarantee letter and sponsor's recent official bank statement

The amount required for one academic year is tuition and living expenses for one academic year. The amount may be documented in any currency.

This will later be an essential part of the study permit application. Immediately after receiving admission, international master students are requested to transfer this amount to a student deposit account held by Kristiania University College.

Immediately after receiving admission, non-EU/EEA citizens need to apply for a study permit. More information about the study permit is available at the UDI's website. Please be aware that the study permit application process may take 7-8 weeks.

As a part of the study permit application, this amount must be deposited in a Norwegian bank account as UDI requires financial guarantee for studies in Norway. It is not possible to open a bank account in Norway prior to arrival. Therefore, Kristiania University College has an account where the required amount can be deposited. Details about how to transfer the deposit will be available after receiving admission.

Normally you are required to register in person at the local immigration office within 7 days after your arrival in Norway. Due to the ongoing pandemic and quarantine rules, Police is more flexible with these deadlines. You need to make an appointment on beforehand through the UDI Application Portal. Be aware that you are not allowed to enter the Police Station before you have finished required quarantine time.

After the police registration, you will receive a residence card and Norwegian ID number by mail. The residence permit is usually valid for one year and must be renewed for the second year of studies. When you are granted a study permit in Norway, you are automatically also granted permission to work up to 20 hours per week and full-time during ordinary holidays.

Once you have received your Norwegian ID number you can open your bank account in Norway and Kristiania University College will transfer your deposit money to your account. The money will be transferred back to you once you open a Norwegian bank account. In order for us to be able to refund your deposit you need to personally visit our financial department with a signed letter with your bank account information. The letter must contain your student id-number, full name, address and account number. If your study permit is not granted or if you withdraw before the deadline specified in your student contract, the funds you deposited will be refunded to you.
