Introduction

Master in Construction Management

The increasing population and climate change worldwide pose numerous challenges, especially in the construction sector. According to a report by the European Commission, about 35 million buildings need to be renovated in Europe alone, and at least 260 million new ones will need to be built to meet the population’s needs.

In 2023, the updated Construction Management study program is designed to prepare high-level construction engineers who can make complex construction management decisions using building information modeling (BIM) technologies in all stages of the building lifecycle, thereby contributing to the strategic EU goal of reducing environmental impact.

The program covers the application of BIM, including adding time (4D), cost (5D), lifecycle evaluation (6D), and project management components (7D) to the 3D model. During the program, strong methodological and scientific research competencies are ensured in the study process and through participation in scientific conferences and the preparation of scientific publications.

The program focuses on project management, contract coordination, work safety management, and teamwork. The program’s first semester focuses on collaboration in implementing real project solutions, starting from the preparation of a BIM implementation plan, the application of geoinformatics technologies for optimal decision-making and ending with the digitization of the entire building design and construction management processes.

In the second part of the program, students deepen their knowledge in quality management, sustainability assessment, and logistics decision-making. Depending on their needs, they expand their expertise in waste management and recycling technologies, modular construction and regenerative design, or building data analytics and machine learning.

*Studies are usually conducted in the evenings, but some academic activities occur during the daytime.
