Introduction
Korean Studies is a double degree program taught entirely in English. This program is prepared in close cooperation with the South Korean partner Keimyung University in Daegu. The program's central objective is to enrich the offer of studies related to Asia. In addition, this program responds to the growing interest in recent years for programs on the Korean Peninsula, its specificity, and its importance in international relations. The first year of studies takes place at the Jagiellonian University, at the Institute of the Middle and Far East. The second year takes place at the Korean partner university. The study plan consists of modules that allow not only to acquire sociocultural knowledge but also to develop the ability to navigate in the Korean environment and gain experience in field research. The research can be conducted during a one-year stay at a Korean university.
The Faculty of International and Political Studies has the A category granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and was awarded for the quality of education by the Polish Accreditation Committee. The Faculty is the most international and interdisciplinary unit at the Jagiellonian University. It offers unique programs conducted in English, many of which are delivered under agreements with foreign universities. The Faculty provides students with an opportunity to study in a nationally and culturally diverse environment, both in Polish and foreign languages. This creates the space for getting to know each other and supports students' development during their studies and in their professional careers. The Faculty’s complex structure reflects the diversity of scientific research conducted in this unit. Therefore, students have an opportunity to study among specialists dealing with matters from almost every corner of the globe.
Korean Studies are conducted by the Institute of the Middle and Far East in a newly renovated building at ul. Oleandry 2a. The Institute is surrounded by green areas like Błonia Park and Jordan Park, near the Jagiellonian Library. It has modern teaching equipment with comfortable conditions. The Institute of the Middle and Far East is the leading Polish center for studies on contemporary societies. The Institute operates the first and largest Confucius Institute in Poland, as well as the Taiwan Research Centre.
Ideal Students
Studies can be undertaken by people who hold:
- Diploma of higher education (at least Licencjat or equivalent, e.g. bachelor) awarded in the academic area of Humanities, Social Sciences, Theology.
An international diploma has to prove the candidate’s eligibility to undertake the second-cycle programs of study in the country of issue.
Qualified candidates need to have graduated from the declared study program by the time of enrolment.

Scientific category B+ in the main discipline of Culture and Religion Studies was awarded to the Jagiellonian University in Kraków by the decision of the Minister of Education and Science.
Program Outcome
The graduates can use acquired during the Korean Studies program knowledge, skills, and social competencies in professional work. Especially in work in institutions that conduct research and create various spheres of social activity. A graduate may seek a career in government administration at any level, local government institutions, various activity institutions in the private sector: the media, research agencies market, advertising and public relations, as well as non-governmental: associations, foundations, and related organizations with the promotion of culture, business, education, communication, tourism, trade. Obtaining qualifications in the specialization focused on Korean studies will make it easier for graduates to work in an international environment in the country and abroad. Acquired skills make it easier to run own business activity, focused on cooperation with the region's countries. Graduates can work in the country and international institutions, including those cooperating with Korea. They also have the opportunity to work in public administration, cultural institutions, publishing houses, media, etc.
