Introduction

The Master in Communication of Science and Culture is unique in Mexico, it trains professionals specialized in cultural management, science communication and sociocultural studies. In addition, it is accredited by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), in the National Quality Postgraduate Program, as a Program at the International Competence Level.

This Program is For You

Professionals graduated from degrees in Social Sciences or Humanities, Exact and Natural Sciences with an interest in providing their professional activity with a sociocultural perspective and a sense of transformation, through the exercise of communication as a strategic area of social impact.

Professionals capable of connecting in public space from the study, analysis and investigation of reality.

General Competences

The emphasis of the program should be on each student's particular project. The subjects or their content must contribute to the formulation and implementation of the student's research project in the social field of interest. Consequently, the general competencies that students will have to develop are:

  • The ability to build and reconstruct conceptual representations that allow them to systematically support critical analyzes and practical diagnoses of specific sociocultural situations, from a sociocultural perspective.
  • The ability to problematize and formulate approaches to sociocultural phenomena in which communication, understood as a social production of meaning, can be identified as a factor in the democratization of practices, institutional systems and knowledge in the social environment.
  • The ability to base pertinent decision-making in situations of knowledge production for the generation of explanations or for the elaboration of management and intervention strategies in relation to institutional generation practices or systems.

Upon graduation from this program

  • You will be able to diagnose, design, coordinate and evaluate projects, programs and public communication campaigns of science, cultural management or sociocultural communication practices.
  • You will be able to carry out basic and applied research to fulfill higher teaching tasks in the field of communication and sociocultural studies.
  • You will be able to participate in scientific and cultural communication tasks from a sociocultural perspective, and you contribute to the creation and development of a scientific and humanistic culture in society.
  • You will be able to influence the democratization of science and culture through research, design, planning and professional intervention.
