Introduction
Goals
The Master in Business Information (MIE) presents itself as an innovative training in the area of Information Science, in Portugal, training graduates able to perform functions of information managers in a business context.
In the current context, the MIE responds to the challenge of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation skills, training graduates with a syncretic profile from various disciplinary areas, capable of recognizing information as an essential strategic value for the management of business organizations. These graduates will be able to promote the optimization of processes associated with the creation and use of information, supporting the company's performance.
The course continues the Graduate Program in Business Information (PGIE) that ran in 2010-2011 and in 2011-2012.
Recipients
Considering information as a transversal element in any organization, the Master in Business Information is of interest to students and professionals from very diverse fields.
Thus, it is intended for current or future professionals in the areas of Information Science, Organizational Communication, Management, Management Informatics, Marketing and Human Resources, among others.
Candidates holding a bachelor's or bachelor's degree in any scientific area are admitted.
Interested parties who do not hold an academic degree but who have a relevant curriculum and/or professional experience in the area of business information are also encouraged to apply.
Internal Initiatives
MIE regularly organizes seminars with national and international guests and contacts with professionals in the field.
The MIE, through its coordination, has been associated with the organization of Postgraduate Workshops in Information Science, promoted within the scope of the Working Group on Information Science, of SOPCOM.
Professional Exits
MIE graduates will be able to perform functions related to information management in a business environment, including small and medium-sized companies or large economic groups.
They will be able to perform functions related to the definition and application of research strategies, treatment and distribution of information, organic-functional analysis, rationalization of organizational procedures or the design of an information system capable of responding to the global needs of the organization.
Entrepreneurship in the area of developing information products and services is another of the professional opportunities promoted by the MIE.
The MIE provides professional skills for the exercise of level 4 functions corresponding to the profile of the Information and Documentation Expert, as stipulated in the Euro-Referential ID (2005).
