Introduction
This Master's aims to train a highly qualified professional, both creatively and technically, focusing in depth on the specific and practical matters of design and pattern-making of costumes for shows and movies.
Students will learn to work on a fictional script, the creation of characters and the use of clothing as a communicative vehicle, and not as an end in itself. But at the same time they will reach a high level in fashion from the technical point of view of the construction of the garment, a fact that allows exploring and understanding the basic rules of the cut, using the most current approaches in this field, adding value to the decisions creative.
The contents range from training in the creation of designs that respond to the needs of each type of production, whether stage box (theater and opera), audiovisual (film and television fiction) or special shows (dance and circus), to the technical mastery of very specific pattern-making specialties (tailoring, corsetry and experimental) that are essential for a profession that must take care of both detail and costume design, emphasizing the importance of teamwork as well as interaction with other creative professionals ( set designers, stage directors, cinematographers…).
