The strong link between professional practice and the Master's in Architecture is one of the programme's defining characteristics.
Students combine their studies at the Academy with work in an architectural practice. This approach is known as concurrent learning, incorporating two relatively independent but closely linked parts of the programme. The academic component is primarily designed to enable students to acquire professional expertise and design skills. The practical component contributes to students' professional development. This interaction between study and work means that you learn twice as much, twice as fast.

Career prospects
The significant practical experience and in-depth technical and design knowledge that you will have acquired through your studies will stand you in good stead when you graduate from the Academy as an architect. You will be immediately employable because you will already have been working in the field. But that is not all, because you will have acquired a great deal of specialist knowledge and will have a lot to offer.
Not only will you have learned to design and build, but you will also be familiar with the entirety of the design and construction process: a highly complex business that involves a large number of bodies and stakeholders. You will have learnt to work with colleagues, contractors, builders, suppliers, technical advisers, public officials, clients and end users.
You will have a broad knowledge of the legal, social, economic and organisational principles associated with the field. You will have learnt to research, collaborate, negotiate and, where necessary, to take a stand. You will know what it means to defend and uphold the quality of a project. In short, you will have learnt not only in theory but also in practice what it means to be a designer.
