The economical, ecological, sustainable and targeted use of materials and their efficient processing represent a key competitive factor for Austrian industry. In view of the increasing quality requirements in production and the use of new materials, there is an increasing need for skilled workers who are familiar with the specific requirements for processing and applying these materials. The required quality of many products can only be achieved through appropriate processing techniques and their specific effects on the material properties.

The graduates have the know-how to take on management positions in production and applied research & development. The fields of activity include metal and plastic processing, joining and welding technology, application technology, technical product development and manufacturing, applied research & development, surface technology and quality assurance. They are in high demand in the following sectors: automotive and aircraft construction, plant and mechanical engineering, sports equipment construction and development, production of semi-finished products, heat treatment, surface treatment and finishing, recycling, tool and mold making.
