Introduction
Why is the MA in American Studies a good choice?
American Studies is a branch of the study of the English language and English-speaking cultures. It deals primarily, but not exclusively, with the United States of America. Everyone has an image of America, for example, through the influence of relatives, personal travels, or the media. America has become part of our everyday lives through popular culture (fast food, rap music, politics, movies). If you're interested in this ever-changing world and the English language and want to get to know them better, this is the course for you. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of contemporary American society and its historical, cultural, and political development. But it's not just the US you'll get to know better, as your studies will also extend to Canada. In addition, by completing the American Business Communication specialization, you will acquire skills that you can put to good use not only in culture but also in business life.
The aim of the program is to prepare graduates with an advanced level of familiarity with North American history, culture, literature, and society along with the correlations between American English and the structure of American society and culture. Graduates can choose a regular track or an American Business Communication specialization.
