Introduction
Master of Education (M.Ed)
The Master of Education (M.Ed) Program is a 36 credit-based two-year degree program aligned with Level 9 in the UAE Qualification Framework - QF Emirates. The program focuses on Education practitioners, leaders, administrators and professionals in a broad range of field and is also suitable for other professionals whose work has an educational component or some educational responsibility. The following tracks are offered within the program:
- Special Education
- Mathematics Education
- Science Education
- Social Studies
- Educational Technology
- Educational Leadership
- Early Childhood
- TESOL
The M.Ed is offered over four semesters, and the final semester includes either a capstone project or a research project.
This program is accredited by Commission for Academic Accreditation.
Admissions Criteria
In order to be admitted to the Master of Education applicants must:
(a) Possess a recognized baccalaureate degree from an accredited University, earned in a discipline appropriate for the M.Ed, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent.
Those applicants interested in the maths or Science track must also:
- Maths track: have completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, a Mathematical Science, Engineering or Maths Education (or equivalent).
- Science track: have completed an undergraduate degree in Science or Science Education (or equivalent).
(b) Possess an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0.
Applicants who do not meet the requirements for the M.Ed may wish to apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). which provides an opportunity transfer to the M.Ed if, during the first semester, they can raise their IELTS and/or GPA to that required for entry to the M.Ed or continue on the PGDE to obtain a teaching qualification.
