Introduction
The robust presence of the United States throughout the world, well observable in the contexts of politics, economy, and culture, calls for a body of experts who – aside from having excellent English language skills – have a specialised knowledge in the history, politics, society, culture, language, and literature of the United States. With this aim in mind, the American Studies MA program seeks to impart its graduates with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills that can be fruitfully utilized in both private and public sector establishments interested in the communication and/or representation of American values and interests.
The two-year-long program does not confer teaching qualifications. Students are eligible for admission to Ph.D. programs. In the scope of the Master Course, students will have opportunities for preparation for doctoral studies.
The aim of this course is to train high-level specialists capable of meeting the specific demands of the labor market in the fields of cultural and intercultural exchange. In addition to local, national or international authorities in the public sector, it is important to underline the growing need for French graduates in the private sector, e.g. with multinational companies.
The training will also prepare the student to continue in one of the Doctoral Schools of the Faculty.
Our graduates find positions mainly in the sectors of education and research, tourism management, banking and finance, and intercultural communications.
