Course Structure
You will be studying this course with the only UK fashion education provider that operates from within the fashion industry. This unique environment provides you with an inside-out perspective on learning the inner workings of fashion communication in all its forms and how the creative industries operate, as well as having access to a range of experts in their fields.
With weekly guest speakers representing a broad range of professions within the fashion and creative industries, you will be learning directly from highly experienced academics and practitioners.
The first term of the MA programme explores pinnacle shifts in the culture of fashion and also facilitates the development of visual sensibilities and communication skills. The knowledge and skills acquired will support and underpin continued study by providing valuable context and awareness of fashion as a form of communication.
The second term aims to engage your imagination, creativity and foresight – you are asked to reimagine the fashion industry, questioning how fashion will be experienced, used and purposed in future environments.
The third term develops collaborative skills and ingenuity with the introduction of an industry-focused project and also examines and explores some of the complex ethical issues facing the fashion industry today. A key element of the learning experience is for you to question your own potential role in the fashion industry and reflect on what and how you can make a positive impact or contribution via your chosen specialist field.
The final term consolidates key aspects of the previous study, whilst enabling you to develop your own themes, ideas and forms of fashion communication within your chosen specialism. The final fashion project presents an opportunity for you to present a body of work supported by a thesis that demonstrates your academic ability, independent thinking and creative prowess.
