These educational activities help students understand the spirit and artistry of Korean traditional music while at the same time acquiring performance skills. It also enables them to contribute to the popularization and inheritance of the heritage of Korean art.

Students are encouraged to choose an instrument other than their instrument as their minor, and further their skills and creativity through sessions for orchestral music, ensemble, chamber music, and folk instrumental music.

In November 1973, the ChuGye School Foundation was approved by the Ministry of Education for founding a junior college of arts. Then, in March 1974, the college first opened its door with a total enrollment of 200 students over Korean Music, Voice, Instruments, Korean Painting, and Western Painting departments and Mr. Hyung Bin Yim inaugurated as its first president.
