Introduction
The phenomenon of Europeanization and globalization has led to the expansion of business and other activities beyond national borders. The evolution of new technologies and digitalization have further driven this trend. Furthermore, even within our borders, a good jurist requires in-depth knowledge of the European Union and international law. For all this, there has been an increase in the demand for legal advisors and professionals who not only know national law but also have specialized knowledge of European and international law and know how to function in these environments.
The master's degree in International Law responds effectively to the needs demanded by this international context both from the corporate and business sectors and from the legal operators themselves. The international lawyer responds professionally and effectively to cross-border situations from the point of view of private or public law and within the European sphere or in situations with third states. The program is aimed at those future legal professionals who intend to practice law professionally and are completing the master's degree for access to the profession.
Specialization in the international field will make them acquire sufficient learning instruments to be competent in the field of law that regulates the legal aspects of procedural, civil, commercial, labor, and criminal law at the international level and in particular the EU, of arbitration. international and human rights, as well as new technologies. All of this is to obtain the appropriate skills and comprehensive knowledge of the main legal aspects to solve cross-border public or private law conflicts or with elements of foreigners that limit them in the discipline of private international law, and public international law. and EU law.
Ideal Students
Candidates for the master's degree in International Law must have a higher Spanish or foreign university degree equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in the Anglo-Saxon system. This profile includes:
- Graduates/graduates in Law.
- This training program does not require prior experience in the field of law, but rather aims to provide comprehensive training in a progressive and effective manner.

Aid for Postgraduate Studies
The UAO CEU annually offers the Study Aid Program to students of master's, postgraduate, and specialization courses (PAEM), based on discounts on the registration fee.
This program, as its name indicates, helps to face the cost of master's, postgraduate, and specialization courses. The awards range between 10% and 50% of the total amount of the program and are awarded based on the student's academic record, his or her connection with the UAO CEU, and his or her family situation.
The deadline to submit these applications will be fifteen calendar days before the start of each program.
PAEM aid cannot be accumulated with each other, nor can it be applied to the CEU management fee.

- European order for payment process, small claims process, European executive titles.
- International family law: divorce, separation, annulment.
- International law of minors. International food law. International right of successions.
- International contract of sale.
- International cooperation contracts: Joint Ventures, agency, distribution, franchise, and intellectual property.
- International corporate law. Constitution and internationalization of companies.
- Purchase and sale of companies and cross-border structural modification operations.
- Arbitration (and other ADRs). The laws applicable to arbitration. New York Convention of 1958.
- ICSID arbitration. International arbitration institutions (ICC, LCIA, etc.).

- Practical aspects of International Trade.

- Introduction to International Tax Law. Non-Resident Law.
- OECD Model Convention. Analysis of the Agreements to avoid double taxation signed by Spain. Tax havens.
- New trends in international taxation.

- Fundamental rights and electronic commerce. The protection of youth and children on the Internet. Intellectual property.

Module 3: European Union Law and Judicial Application (32.25 ECTS)
- Introduction: The European Union and its institutions. European citizenship.
- EU legislative procedures and Sources of European Union Law.
- Relationships between EU Law and national law: Primacy, direct effect, consistent interpretation, non-contractual liability.
- Institutional and procedural autonomy. The preliminary question.
Analysis of multidisciplinary cases. - The process before the CJEU. Appeals before the CJEU: non-compliance, annulment, omission and extra-contractual
- liability.
- The Space of Freedom, Security and Justice. Judicial cooperation.
- Schengen Area. Controls at external borders, migration, and asylum.
- Cybercrime in the EU.
- Police and criminal judicial cooperation. Rules on the fight against terrorism, corruption, fraud, and money laundering in the EU.
- Fundamental rights in the European Union.
- The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
- Concept and evolution of the European Single Market. Free movement of goods.

- Control of private restrictions on the competition: anti-competitive agreements, abuses of dominant position, and concentration control.

Program Outcome
The master's degree in International Law is aimed at training professionals who can provide a high-level service in the practice of international law, such as:
- Know international regulations on competition, applicable law, and the recognition and execution of foreign judicial decisions in the contractual, non-contractual, family, personal, inheritance, commercial, and labor fields.
- Know the main international contracts.
- Know the ways to resolve legal conflicts extrajudicially (arbitration and ADR).
- Know the credit claim procedures and their procedural aspects at the EU level.
- Know the regulatory instruments of the EU and international conventions at a procedural level to resolve international legal conflicts, among others.
Methodology
The master's degree is taught through a combined system that includes three simultaneous methodologies: conferences by renowned jurists, seminars to discuss practical cases based on real assumptions, and activities designed for the development of practical and communicative skills and abilities.
In-person activities are completed with autonomous (but directed) work by the student.
