1. Overview of the Program
The program of educational technology offered by the School of Educational Information Technology (SEIT) was approved as the key discipline by the provincial government of Hubei and was accredited as one of the national featured programs. In 2012, it was approved as the pilot program for the project of comprehensive discipline reform in Hubei Province. The program of educational technology includes two innovative teaching and research platforms: National Engineering Research Center for e-Learning and National Experimental Teaching Center for Arts, making it top-ranked program among more than 200 other institutions that offer the same discipline in China. The program is known for its profound influence in the fields such as instructional design and development, distance education theory and technology, and educational information service.
2. Objectives of the Program
Program graduates should acquire the basic theories, methods, and technologies fundamental to the educational technology discipline, and possess the capability and skills to independently conduct educational research and teaching in the field of educational technology.
3. Instructional Model of the Program
The Master’s program focuses on the establishment of the theoretical foundation, development of independent research skills and the linkage between theories and practice. It aims to help students gain a comprehensive and systematic view of the history, status quo and future trends of educational technology discipline. Each student in the program will be assigned to a designated adviser, but will also receive advising and mentoring from an advising committee. Once students become part of the research group, they should follow the research management model and participate in academic activities and discussions regularly with other group members. Under adviser’s guidance, students are expected to develop their skills for analyzing, problem-solving and innovative research.
4. Curriculum offered
The total number of credits required for the Master’s degree in Educational Technology program is 36 credits. Among them, 4 credits are earned through practical application and 2 credits are earned by participating in academic activities. Selected core courses are listed in the following Table.

5. Program Faculty
Yang Hao, Professor. His research focuses on e-learning, course development, and theory of learning and cognition. He would also discuss emerging topics in the field of educational technology. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Qingtang Liu, Professor. His research interests include e-learning, digital copyright protection and knowledge mining and services. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Jiuming Yang, Professor. His research interests include instructional design, teacher education, and online learning. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Mingzhang Zuo, Professor. His research focuses on theory and application of educational technology, educational informatization, and digital media.
Chengling Zhao, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor. His research interests include theories, methods, and applications of educational technology, educational information processing and application of computer in education and integration of IT and curricula. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Zhang Yi, Professor. Her research focuses on basic theory and practice of instructional technology, evaluation, and strategy of instructional technology and game-based learning. She teaches in English and Chinese.
Mingwen Tong, Professor. His research interests include mobile learning content adaptation technology, digital resources management and evaluation and learners modeling theory and technology. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Wenhui Peng, Professor. His research interests include e-learning behavior and learning analytics. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Jixin Wang, Professor. His research focuses on digital learning theory and practice. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Junqi Wu, Professor. His research focuses on education technology, the education of information science and technology and informationization and teacher education. He teaches in English and Chinese.
Zhao Gang, Professor. His research interests include digital learning technology, intelligent multimedia information processing, computer vision and video surveillance. He teaches in English and Chinese.
