Introduction
The MSc in Finance (post-experience) is a post-experience program designed for students with up to 5 years of professional experience who desire to pursue an international career. The curriculum blends theory and practice with a hands-on approach, provided by our innovative courses and top professors. The program fosters strong professional and personal connections with peers and industry experts from all over the world (Germany, France, U.K., Italy, U.S., Canada, Brazil, etc.).
Specialization in Corporate Finance
The specialization is designed to jump-start you into a career in Corporate Finance, preparing you for positions related to Mergers & Acquisitions, Finance Departments, Investment Banks, and Retail Companies, among others
Specialization in Financial Markets
The specialization is specially tailored to jump-start your career in Investment Banks, Hedge Funds, and Private Equity firms, among others. It offers courses that will give you an ample view of several topics in finance, and specialized courses and dissertation seminars that provide a hands-on approach to financial markets

Scholarships and Funding
Católica Top+ is a merit scholarship program for Master's students of all nationalities.
Implemented by Católica-Lisbon, this program allows high-potential students to complete their MSc with a partial waiver of tuition fees for the regular track of the program (3 semesters at our School; exchange semester excluded).
We encourage outstanding students to apply for this scholarship, especially those that have completed their first cycle degree at the top of their classes.
The following criteria are highly valued in the evaluation of the candidates for Católica Top+:
- Undergraduate academic record;
- International experience;
- Professional experience (e.g. internships);
- Extracurricular activities;
- Potential contribution to the community of Católica-Lisbon;
NOTE: Double Degree and Joint Degree students can only be granted a scholarship in the 1st year.
Curriculum
The Master of Science in Finance (Post-Experience) is organized into Finance Core Courses, and Elective Courses, providing students with a balanced curriculum that blends theory and practice with a hands-on approach.
Pre-Courses
Católica Lisbon offers to all students that enroll in the finance programs the possibility to complete pre-courses designed to strengthen the foundations in several key areas before the program starts:
- Advanced Excel
- Introduction to VBA
- Introduction to Finance
- Introduction to Accounting
These are mostly optional online courses that present a great degree of flexibility, adaptability to master student’s needs, and availability. To provide the best possible experience, students benefit from the help of an expert throughout each course. The Advanced Excel course prepares students to the Microsoft Excel Certification.
Coursework by Specialization
The coursework for the Finance program consists of Core Courses, Specialization Elective Courses, and Elective Finance Courses. Apart from that, Career Accelerator Lab and LERNE Sessions are also part of this coursework.
Corporate Finance
The coursework for Corporate Finance Specialization consists of Finance Core Courses, Specialization Elective Courses, and Finance Elective Courses. Apart from that, Career Accelerator Lab and LERNE Sessions are also part of this coursework.

Dissertation Semester
Dissertation Project
The Master's dissertation is the culmination of your master's program. This is when you build on the knowledge and skills acquired during the program to develop an individual project on a topic that resonates with your career aspirations and helps you excel in an area you find professionally relevant. At CATÓLICA-LISBON there are two models for dissertation supervision – an Independent Process, or a project developed in the Dissertation Seminar.
If students enroll in the summer dissertation seminar, they have the possibility of finishing the program in 14 months.
Most of our students develop their industry or academic research in a dissertation seminar supervised by an expert in a specific area. Here is a selection of Dissertation Seminars offered in 2022/2023. This list is updated every year to reflect the topics of interest for our master students and its relevance for companies.
