Introduction
The changes that have been experienced in our country and in the world in recent decades, around sports and healthy lifestyles are notorious. The increase in sports practice, a greater awareness of the population about the importance of physical exercise and its effects on the quality of life, as well as the demands of daily life, has generated a growing demand for professionals with specific training and knowledge to perform both within the field of physical exercise and highly competitive sport.
The results recently achieved by Uruguayan athletes from different disciplines have served as a stimulus for many institutions to integrate psychologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, doctors, physical education teachers, psychopedagogues, and psychometricians into their work team, opening new doors for those professionals who are oriented to work in this area.
The Master's Degree in Health and Sports Psychology is a new academic program that offers different health professionals the possibility of working in the field of physical activity, whether in sports or in promoting physical exercise. Likewise, this proposal is aimed at providing useful elements of psychology for other university professionals linked to physical activity and sport within the framework of health.
