Introduction
Bioinformatics is dedicated to the research, development, or application of computational tools to help in the analysis of biological data that include areas such as biology, medicine, agriculture, among others, focusing on the acquisition, storage, organization, and visualization of these data. On the other hand, computational biology focuses on the development and application of analytical data, mathematical models, computational simulation techniques, and theoretical methods, for the study of biological, behavioral, and social systems.
Bioinformatics and computational biology are areas of knowledge that come from advances in biological sciences and their integration with information sciences, from which millions of data have been obtained that need to be organized and systematized, to understand the phenomena associated with living organisms, from their evolution, their behavior in different ecosystems, to the applications that can be derived from said analysis. Therefore, postgraduate programs have emerged in these areas, which allow professionals from different disciplines to qualify to take on this challenge posed by science.
